Denmark’s Euro 92-Winning Coach Has Passed On
The coach, who led the Danish national side to a surprise victory at the 1992 European Championship, had been ill since having an operation for a brain tumour in July last year.
Tributes have been pouring in for the coach with former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel leading the trail.
“An inspiration, my teacher and my friend, R.I.P. my friend,” Schmeichel tweeted.
Moller Nielsen also led Denmark’s Under-21 side between 1978 and 1989 and later managed Finland and Israel.
He is best remembered for the Euro 1992 success, where Denmark were a late replacement for Yugoslavia, who were not allowed to participate because of civil war.
His team clinched the title with a 2-0 victory over main favourites Germany in the final.
