Several members of the outlawed Islamist sect Boko Haram have fled Borno State to neighbouring Chad, Niger and Cameroon, according to the Nigeria Airforce (NAF).
This came as the force said it intensified bombardment of hideouts and camps of the terrorists in the state.
The Airforce in a statement by its 79 Composite Group headquartered in Maiduguri, said that it has regrouped in the last few days and recovered from the December 2, 2013 attack on its Base to deal lethal blows on the insurgents.
The renewed fight may not be unconnected with the appointment of the new service chiefs who President Goodluck Jonathan has tasked to wipe out insurgency in the country.
The new Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu was decorated with the other new service chiefs on Wednesday after the Senate confirmed their appointments.
